One year it was Webkinz. One year it was the Fisher Price Smart Cycle. Another year it was the Wii. What will be the hot toy on eBay this year, and how can you get it to sell and make a nice profit? That is the question on the mind of eBay toy sellers this time of year.
Some are predicting the Twilight Princess and Edward dolls will be popular. Those Zhu Zhu pets hamsters are causing quite a stir. Zhu Zhu pets are a robotic hamster that "learns" its way around your home, makes interesting sounds, drives cars, rides skateboards, and is basically all the fun of a regular hamster without the mess or the smell. Right now, Zhu Zhu pets sell at Toys R Us for $9.99, with a limit of 3. The website is already out of stock and it is only mid-October. The single Zhu Zhu pets are selling for about $20 on eBay. Most sellers are offering huge lots for the hamsters and the toy sets.
Wii, Playstation, and XBox games are always good sellers on eBay at holiday time. Guitar Hero was huge one year. The newest Wii game on the market right now is Sports Resort, but we expect something will be released closer to December.
And we can't forget Barbie. Every year, Mattel releases a Holiday Barbie, which may eventually become a collectible. These dolls can be worth buying and holding on to in order to sell later, or as part of a collection. They are usually only valuable if they are new and never removed from the box.
Action figures are always good sellers. This year Transformers or Bakugan are expected to be in the top category. ti is really too early to tell. Supply and demand often dictate what rises to the top on eBay. Pay attention to what is going on around you. If you see news reports of people waiting in huge lines to get a certain toy, count on that toy being a good seller on eBay. Watch what people go for on Black Friday and see which toys disappear fastest from toy shelves. Those will be the ones to sell on eBay this holiday season.
